Understanding the Rapture of the Church
Though the word “rapture” isn’t in Scripture, the event is clearly described—a sudden, supernatural gathering of believers to meet Christ before God’s judgment unfolds on earth.
Biblical Descriptions of the Rapture
- 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: The dead in Christ rise first, then living believers are caught up together to meet the Lord in the air.
- 1 Corinthians 15:51-52: All believers will be changed “in the twinkling of an eye” at the last trumpet.
- John 14:3: Jesus promises to return and take believers to be with Him.
Key Features of the Rapture
- Imminent: Could happen at any moment (Titus 2:13).
- Resurrection & Transformation: Believers receive glorified, immortal bodies (1 Corinthians 15:53-54).
