Reviving Your First Love for God
Like the church in Ephesus (Revelation 2:4-5), we must rediscover the fiery devotion that marked our early walk with Christ.
1. Remember the Fire
- Recall specific moments of divine encounter
- Journal God’s past faithfulness
- Meditate on Christ’s sacrifice (1 John 4:19)
2. Prioritize Sacred Space
Create daily rhythms for spiritual renewal:
- Morning prayer before checking devices
- Scripture meditation during lunch
- Evening examen of God’s presence
3. Worship That Ignites
- Sing with abandon like David (2 Samuel 6:14)
- Try new worship expressions – art, dance, poetry
- Attend worship nights with expectancy
4. Simplify to Amplify
Eliminate spiritual clutter:
- Replace religious routine with raw honesty
- Fast from distractions that dull your spirit
- Practice “being” before “doing”
5. The Humility Spark
Daily examen asking:
- Where have I grown cold?
- What needs repentance?
- How can I surrender afresh?
6. Fellowship That Fans Flames
Seek relationships that:
- Challenge spiritual complacency
- Share testimonies of God’s work
- Pray bold prayers together
7. Service as Spiritual Kindling
Reignite passion through:
- Secret acts of kindness
- Volunteering in ministry
- Generous giving
Your Revival Challenge
This week, implement one practice from each category:
1) Recall a defining God-moment
2) Establish one sacred daily rhythm
3) Engage in extended worship
4) Eliminate one spiritual distraction
