The Path to Reconciliation with God
Our fundamental problem is sin – the universal human condition that separates us from a holy God (Psalm 14:3; Isaiah 53:6). Yet in His mercy, God provides the solution through Christ’s redemptive work.
The Human Dilemma
- Universal sinfulness: All have strayed from God’s standard
- Just consequence: “The soul who sins shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4)
- Divine initiative: Christ came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10)
The Road to Reconciliation
- Recognition: Acknowledge personal sinfulness (Romans 3:23)
- Repentance: Turn from sin with contrite heart (Isaiah 57:15)
- Confession: Verbally affirm Christ’s lordship (Romans 10:9-10)
- Faith: Trust in Christ’s atoning work (John 1:29; Ephesians 2:8)
The Prodigal Son Paradigm (Luke 15:11-32)
- Rebellion: Squandering the Father’s gifts (v.13)
- Repentance: “I will arise and go to my father” (v.18)
- Restoration: Immediate forgiveness and celebration (vv.20,24)
Essential Truths About Salvation
- Christ declared redemption “finished” on the cross (John 19:30)
- Available to “everyone who calls” (Acts 2:21)
- Received by grace through faith alone (Galatians 2:16)
- Assured by God’s faithfulness (Psalm 34:18)
A Prayer of Commitment
Note: Salvation comes through faith, not reciting words
“Heavenly Father, I acknowledge my sin and need for salvation. I believe Jesus Christ bore my punishment on the cross. I place my complete trust in Him as my Savior. Thank You for the gift of forgiveness and eternal life. Amen.”
