The Unfathomable Majesty of God
Human language stumbles before the boundless reality of our Creator. Scripture declares His nature not through exhaustive definition but through awe-inspiring revelation—inviting us to worship what we cannot fully comprehend.
Beyond Human Comprehension
God’s attributes defy mortal limits:
- Omniscient: Knows every atom, star, and thought (Psalm 147:4-5; Matthew 10:30)
- Omnipotent: Spoke creation into being (Genesis 1:3; Hebrews 1:3)
- Omnipresent: Fills heaven and earth (Jeremiah 23:24)
- Eternal: “From everlasting to everlasting” (Psalm 90:2; Revelation 1:8)
The Paradox of Knowing God
Though infinitely transcendent, He makes Himself known:
- Through Creation: “The heavens declare His glory” (Psalm 19:1)
- Through Scripture: His self-revelation in words (2 Timothy 3:16)
- Through Christ: “The exact representation of His being” (Hebrews 1:3)
- Through the Spirit: Reveals truth to hearts (1 Corinthians 2:10-12)
Love as God’s Supreme Revelation
Amidst His unfathomable attributes, love defines Him:
- His Nature: “God is love” (1 John 4:8)
- His Sacrifice: Gave His Son for rebels (John 3:16; Romans 5:8)
- His Invitation: Offers reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18-20)
Our Proper Response
Faced with such majesty, we:
- Worship: “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10)
- Wonder: “What god is great as our God?” (Psalm 77:13)
- Witness: Declare His deeds among the nations (Psalm 96:3)
- Wait: Long for the day we “see face to face” (1 Corinthians 13:12)
The Glorious Mystery
The God who measures galaxies in His palm (Isaiah 40:12) condescends to call us His children (1 John 3:1). Though we cannot fathom His depths, we can know His heart—through Christ’s cross where infinite power embraced infinite love, making a way for finite creatures to commune with the Eternal One.
