The Baseball Game of Life: How Grace Wins
The Final Inning
Bob and the Lord stood watching a tense baseball game—the Lord’s team versus Satan’s. It was the bottom of the 9th, score tied 0-0, with two outs. The pressure was on.
The First Batters
Love stepped up first and hit a single—because love never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8). Next came Faith, who also singled, working perfectly with Love. Then Godly Wisdom approached the plate. Satan threw his best pitches, but Wisdom never swung—because true discernment doesn’t chase the enemy’s lies. The bases were loaded.
The Star Player
The Lord turned to Bob. “Now, I’ll bring in My star player.” Up stepped Grace. Bob frowned. “He doesn’t look like much.” Satan’s team smirked, relaxed—until Grace swung. The ball rocketed past Satan’s outfielders, straight through their gloves, and over the fence for a game-winning home run!
The Lesson
Bob was puzzled. “Why couldn’t Love, Faith, or Wisdom win the game?” The Lord replied, “If they had, you’d think you won by your own strength. Love, Faith, and Wisdom get you on base—but only My Grace brings you home. And Grace is the one thing Satan can’t steal.”
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
—Ephesians 2:8
The Victory
In life’s battles, we rely on love, faith, and wisdom—but salvation comes through grace alone. No effort, no strategy, no human strength can replace the power of God’s unmerited favor. When we strike out, stumble, or fall short, Grace steps in and wins the game.
